NGO trains Youths In Imo Community On Drug Abuse Prevention
A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), New Thing International Foundation in partnership with Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre conducted a three day anti-drug abuse campaign for the youths in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo state.

The training is aimed at moulding the character of the students and prevent them from indulging in unwholesome practice with the aim to making them become good citizens and responsible leaders.
The event which witnessed the training of over 50 in-school and out-of-school youths and people living with disabilities on ways to create an avenue where stakeholders can ask and recieve relevant information concerning drug abuse.
In a statement signed by the President of the foundation, Pastor Kenneth Anetor who was also a speaker said the training was aimed at educating participants on the symptoms and dangers of drug abuse through relevant and tested techniques and intervention approaches that would suit the cultural context of the region.
He blamed the increase in the social vices and criminal activities in the country such as banditry, kidnapping and senseless killings on excessive intake of illicit drugs.
He called on the youth in the area to channel their potential energy toward a productive venture that would promote and shape the unity of the country instead of indulging in drugs.
Kenneth thanked the sponsors for coming together to sensitise the youth in addressing the effects of drug abuse which has become rampant among the youth in the society.
