The All-Share Index (ASI) of listed equities trading at the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) has climbed to 576.27 absolute points, sustaining its upward trajectory on Thursday.
The NGX ASI appreciated by 0.28 percent to close at 203,161.81 basis points, higher than Wednesday’s 202,585.54 basis points.
Over the past month, the benchmark index from Nigeria, which is tracked by a contract for difference, has climbed 3.62% and is up 93.88% compared to the same time last year.
The figure also represents a 1-week gain of 0.93%, a 4-week gain of 3.14%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 30.56%.
Similarly, the market capitalisation inched up to N130.773 trillion, as investors recorded an additional N369 billion profit.
On the performance of NGX market indices, other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.34%; +1.08% 1WK; +30.17% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+1.12%; +7.93% 1WK; +32.49% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+0.67%; -0.3% 1WK; +3.23% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.62%; +3.62% 1WK; +39.55% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+0.49%; +2.22% 1WK; +43.74% YTD), and NGX Consumer Goods Index (+0.44%; -2.48% 1WK; +6.95% YTD).
At the end of today’s trading session on the exchange, a total of 652,762,977 shares exchanged hands in 50,912 deals, corresponding to a market value of N39,771,559,315.26.
Thursday’s data shows a 35% decline in volume, a 2% decline in turnover, and a 3% decline in deals when compared with the previous NGX trading session.
A total of 133 NGX-listed equities participated in trading the session, ending with 30 gainers and 32 losers.
Trans-Nationwide Express led the gainers list with 9.94% share price appreciation, closing at NGN 3.43 per share, followed by International Energy Insurance (+9.84%), UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust (+9.63%) and Guinea Insurance (+9.52%).
On the flipside, Living Trust Mortgage Bank came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 4.32 per share, followed by RT Briscoe (-9.94%), Tantalizers (-9.55%) and Livestock Feeds (-9.4%).
Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 122 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding (62.3m), Chams (60.7m) and Zenith Bank (43.7m).
