NGX ASI Rises by 0.84 Percent

The Nigerian Exchange Limited All-Share Index, NGX-ASI, rose for the first time this week when it closed at 98,156.71 basis points at the end of equities trading activities on Thursday.

 

This represents a 0.84% rise from Wednesday’s session which ended at 97,343.42 basis points. The Market capitalization likewise grew 0.84% or ₦466.73 billion from yesterday’s ₦55.06trn to settle at ₦55.53trn.

 

Consequently, the MTD and YTD returns settled at -0.1% and +31.3%, respectively.

 

Renewed investor interest in blue-chip AIRTEL AFRICA PLC (+8.97%), alongside FIDELITY BANK PLC (+1.18%) and NIGERIAN BREW. PLC. (+1.77%) buoyed the broader index, offsetting losses in ZENITH BANK PLC (-2.40%), GUARANTY TRUST HOLDING COMPANY PLC (-5.33%), and FBN HOLDINGS PLC (-5.36%).

 

Analysis of today’s market activity showed that trade turnover settled 24.95% higher than the previous session, and the total trading volume increased by 15.3% to 409.77 million units of shares valued at ₦8.93 billion in 7,296 transactions.

 

CUSTODIAN INVESTMENT PLC (-0.49%) was the most traded stock by volume at 115.53m units traded, while AIRTEL AFRICA PLC (+8.97%) was the most traded stock by value at ₦2.17bn.
