The Nigerian Equities Market ended Thursday’s trading session on a positive note attributed primarily to gains in ARADEL HOLDINGS PLC (+10.00%) and OANDO PLC (+7.03%).
Consequently, the All-Share index appreciated by 357.62 basis points or 0.37% to close at 96,924.86 basis points from previous 96,567.24 basis points.
In the same vein, the market capitalisation gained ₦212 billion or 0.37% to close at ₦58.732tn from Wednesday’s ₦58.515trn, bringing the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns printed -0.7% and +29.6%, respectively.
The total trading volume increased by 78.0% while the value of transactions advanced by 64.10% as a total of 744.54 million units, valued at ₦16.48 billion, were exchanged in 9,700 deals.
JAPAUL GOLD & VENTURES PLC was the most traded stock by volume at 105.93 million units, while JULIUS BERGER NIG. PLC. was the most traded stock by value at ₦4.55 billion.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive as 33 stocks gained relative to 17 losers.
CONOIL PLC (+10.00%) and ARADEL HOLDINGS PLC (+10.00%) topped the gainers’ list, while TANTALIZERS PLC (-6.25%) and NIGERIAN EXCHANGE GROUP (-5.81%) recorded the highest losses of the day.
On sectoral performance, the Insurance (+1.8%) and Oil & Gas (+1.8%) indices advanced, while the Banking (-0.4%) index declined. The Industrial Goods and Consumer Goods indices closed flat.
