Nigeria’s local bourse benchmark inched up with additional N177 billion on market capitalisation at the close of business on Tuesday.
The All-Share Index of listed equities trading on the floor of the Exchange Exchange Group Limited, NGX appreciated by 0.73 percent, representing a 326.51 basis points to close at 44,788.14 higher than Monday’s 44,461.63 as profit-taking among investors continued.
The gains recorded at the end of trade saw investors making more than N177 billion on market capitalisation, to close at N24.394 higher than the N24.217 trillion of the previous day.
The day ended with a total volume of 159.210 million units of shares that exchanged hands in 3, 385 deals.
The market sentiment for a second day remained negative with 9 gainers and 19 losers.
BUA Cement led the gainers list with a 10 percent gain on its share price to close at N68.20k followed by the SUNU Assurance Plc with a 9.38 percent gain on its share price to close at N0.35k. Then Jaiz Bank Plc had an 8.99 percent price gain to close at N0.97k.
Royal Exchange on the other hand, led the losers table with a 9.64% loss on its share price to close at N0.75k, followed by MULTIVERSE which had an 8.50% to close at N4.20k and MayBaker lost 6.67% to close at N3.92k.
