NGX market capitalisation declines by N66b

Trading activities closed in the negative on Thursday after three days of gains as market capitalisation of equities dropped by N4 billion to close at N20,216 trillion as against N20,282 trillion on Wednesday.

Similarly, the all share index depreciated 0.32% to close at 38,801.51 points being 126.32 points lower than 38,927.83 points recorded at the close of trading on Wednesday.

Thursday’s trading saw a total of 139,782,724 shares with market value of N1, 409 billion traded in 3,655 deals.

Gainers
CONOIL led the gainers table having gained N1.85k or 10% to close at N20.35k per share. It was followed by CHIPLC with N0.05k or 8.93% gain to close at N0.61k and SOVRENINS gained N0.02k or 7.69% to close at N0.28k.

Losers
On the other hand, ARDOVA led the losers list after it lost N1.00k or 6.25% to close at 15.00k followed by VERITASKAP which lost 0.01k or 4% to close at 0.24k and AIICO lost N0.02k or 2.06% to close at N0.95k.

Most traded shares
UBA was the toast of investors for the day as it had the biggest volumes of traded shares of 16,433 million shares worth N123 billion followed by GTCO with 13,004 million shares.

Most of the indices performance was slightly positive as three out of the five sub-sectors tracked closed in green.

The Insurance index gained 0.25%, the Consumer good index rose by 0.26% and the Industrial index grew by 0.04%.
While the banking index fell at 0.30% and the oil and gas index also fell by 0.04%.
