NGX Market Capitalisation Gains ₦251.06bn

Trading at the Nigeria Stock Exchange ended positive on Thursday, as it maintains a bullish trend in the second week of November.
Investors’ sustained interest in DANGOTE CEMENT PLC (+7.8%) and AIRTEL AFRICA PLC (+0.37%) stocks further pushed the benchmark index upwards by 1.06% to settle at 43,939.68 points while the market capitalisation gained ₦251.06bn to close at ₦23.94tn.
Analysis of trading of equities on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited, NGX on Thursday, showed that the total volume of trade increased as well as the value of transactions.
Thus, a total of 405.00m units of shares valued at ₦3.10bn were exchanged in 3,188 deals where STERLING BANK PLC led the volume chart with 171.15m units traded; while AIRTEL AFRICA PLC led the value chart in deals worth ₦700.25m.
Market breadth closed negative as 16 declining issues outnumbered 15 advancing ones with JULIUS BERGER NIG. PLC and CADBURY NIGERIA PLC topping the losers’ list by -9.81% and -9.69%, while MRS OIL NIGERIA PLC and COURTEVILLE BUSINESS SOLUTIONS PLC recorded the highest gains of the day by +9.83% and +8.70%.
Sectoral performance was mixed, as the Industrial Goods (+3.5%) and Oil & Gas (+0.1%) indices recorded gains, while the Insurance (-1.7%) and Consumer Goods (-0.7%) indices declined. The Banking index closed flat.
