The benchmark All-Share index of equities on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) shed 0.4% or 158.98 points to close at 39,326.67 points on Monday, while the market capitalization depreciated by N83 billion to close at N20.489 trillion as against N20.572 trillion at the close of trading on Friday last week.
At the end of the first trading day of the week, a total of 301.01 million shares with market value of N1.53 billion were traded in 4,715 deals.
The day’s trading ended with 21 gainers and 18 losers.
Honey well Flour Mill led the gainers, having appreciated by N0.35k to close at N3.90k, followed by UPDC which gained N0.18k to close at N2.01k and Associated Bus Company, which rose by N0.03k to close at N0.36k.
On the other hand, Champion Breweries depreciated by N0.17k to close the day at N2.03k.
It was followed by Eterna with N0.54k loss to close at N6.96k and Linkage Assurance, which lost N0.04k to close at N0.58k.
Transnational Corporation of Nigeria was the toast of investors on Monday, recording the highest volume of traded shares at 51.7 million shares, followed by Honeywell Flour Mill with 43.7 million shares.
