NIDCOM Boss Congratulates Nigeria’s Amina Smaila Honoured By US Congress

The Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has congratulated Nigeria’s Consul-General in Atlanta Georgia,.Amb. Amina Smaila for her recognition and commendation by the House of Representatives of the State of Georgia.

This becomes the first-ever recognition of an African diplomat in its 247-year history.

In the congratulatory message, Dabiri-Erewa described Smaila as ‘an exceptional and distinguished Nigerian diplomat with deep concerns for fellow citizens.’

The NIDCOM boss said “she was not surprised about the well-deserved honour on Smaila going by her pedigree as an outstanding and intelligent public servant with exceptional service in the Nigeria foreign service for over two decades.”

Unique honour

Dabiri-Erewa however, urged her to continue to do more for humanity and serve as inspiration to others coming behind her as the recognition by the House of Representatives of Georgia was unique and historical.

In the Resolution 647 moved by Rep. Okoye of the 102nd district, the House resolved to recognise Amb. Amina Smaila “for her efficient, effective, unselfish and dedicated public service and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.”

At the recognition ceremony in the parliament on Friday, Amb . Amina Smaila and all Nigerian-American State Representatives were in attendance.
