NiDCOM Boss Hails Nigerians Historic Wins at 2026 Grammy Awards

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated three Nigerians of global acclaim—Shaboozey, Tyler the Creator, and Cynthia Erivo, on their historic victories at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

In a statement issued in Abuja, by the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dr. Dabiri-Erewa described their achievements on one of the world’s most prestigious cultural platforms as a testament to the creativity, excellence, and global impact of Nigerians and people of Nigerian heritage in the diaspora.

She noted that their successes go beyond individual milestones, representing moments of collective pride for the nation.

While acknowledging the continued global recognition of Nigerian-based artistes such as Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid, Dabiri-Erewa emphasised that the names, family histories, and ancestral roots of Shaboozey, Tyler Okonma, and Cynthia Erivo remain unmistakably Nigerian.

She called on the media, cultural institutions, and Nigerians at home and abroad to embrace a broader and more inclusive sense of national pride that celebrates Nigerian excellence wherever it thrives.

According to her, recognising Nigerians in the diaspora strengthens national unity, enhances Nigeria’s global standing, and inspires future generations.
