Niger Delta Leaders Mourn Pa Edwin Clark, Seek Immortalization

The Vice President 2 of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) Worldwide, High Chief (Dr.) Nengi James has called for Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark’s immortalization.

In a tribute, Dr. James said Pa Clark’s tireless advocacy for equity, justice, and the rights of the oil-producing region has left an indelible mark on the nation.

To honor his legacy, Dr. James recommends several initiatives, including:

– National recognition: Immortalizing Pa Clark’s image on the five hundred naira note, alongside Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.

– Renaming the Local Content Tower headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, in Pa Clark’s honor.

– Edwin Clark Foundation and Lecture Series: Establishing the Edwin Clark Foundation, which will organize an annual lecture series to recognize distinguished leaders and perpetuate Pa Clark’s memory.

– Constructing structures, such as hostels, at Edwin Clark University in Kiagbodo, Pa Clark’s hometown.

– Conducting a needs assessment of Edwin Clark University and providing essential amenities to the institution.

Dr. James emphasized that a befitting burial is essential but not sufficient to truly honor Pa Clark’s legacy.

“These recommendations are crucial to ensure his contributions are permanently memorialized.”

Pa Clark, OFR, CON, was a renowned nationalist and advocate for the Niger Delta region.
