Niger Governor Hails Paramount Ruler’s Reign

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State in Northcentral Nigeria, extended warm commendations to Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, Etsu Nupe, for his remarkable two-decade reign on the throne.

Governor Bago remarked during Etsu Nupe’s 20th year on the throne anniversary celebrations in his palace in Bida.

The Governor lauded Etsu Nupe for his remarkable leadership, underlining his unshakable commitment not just to preserving the Nupe Kingdom’s customs but also to safeguarding the state’s rich legacy.

He reaffirmed his administration’s steadfast commitment to driving the state towards unprecedented progress.

Governor Umar Mohammed Bago called upon Etsu Nupe to continue providing invaluable counsel and support for the betterment of the state. He issued a stern warning to wrongdoers within the state, cautioning, “I caution wrongdoers in our state that the issue of insecurity will soon be eradicated.”

The event’s Chairman, former Military President of Nigeria, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, represented by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, showered praise on the celebrant for his remarkable contributions and extended heartfelt wishes for Etsu Nupe’s continued good health and wisdom in his service to humanity.

Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, a former Governor of Niger State, highlighted Etsu Nupe’s 20-year achievements and passionately advocated for the strengthening of the Traditional Institution as the guardian of cherished values.

In his remarks, the Etsu Nupe and  Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar expressed profound gratitude for his successful two-decade reign. He encouraged his subjects to harness the emirate’s natural resources through agriculture and pledged unwavering support and leadership.

Distinguished traditional rulers from across Nigeria, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Ooni of Ife, Oba of Benin, and others, joined in congratulating Etsu Nupe for his exceptional leadership while emphasizing unity, prayers, and national harmony.

The celebratory occasion also witnessed the coronation of five distinguished traditional title holders, including Chief Mrs. Folashade Mujidat Tinubu-Ojo, Sen. Bima Muhammad Enagi, Dr. Abdullahi Abubakar Kuso, Chief Mordecai Ladan, and Akanya Aliyu. Additionally, a historic book chronicling the illustrious history of the Nupe Kingdom from 1800 to 2023 was unveiled, with the Niger State Government generously contributing N10 million to this momentous project.
