The initiative, which has drawn beneficiaries from across the country, aims to provide critical healthcare services to underserved populations.

The Chairman of the Sani Bello Foundation and former Military Governor of Kano State, Colonel Sani Bello (retd.), described the outreach as a meaningful way to mark his 82nd birthday.

Colonel Bello highlighted his preference for supporting healthcare initiatives over extravagant celebrations.

“The free annual surgical outreach serves as a birthday gift to the community, providing solace and relief to those in need,” he said.

Expressing immense joy at the opportunity to bring smiles to individuals who cannot afford medical treatment, he called on affluent members of society to support vulnerable populations.

The Vice Chairman of the Sani Bello Foundation, Usman Sani Bello, reiterated the foundation’s dedication to positively impacting lives. He commended the smooth conduct of the program and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in addressing healthcare challenges.

“We’ve already provided surgeries for over 500 patients, and we expect this number to grow by the end of the five-day outreach,” Usman said.

Dr. Tort Joseph, Chairman of the Graceland Health Development Foundation, Kaduna, praised the collaboration, highlighting its transformative impact.

“Our partnership with the Sani Bello Foundation is driven by a shared commitment to assisting vulnerable individuals in society,” Dr. Joseph said.

He added that “Over the past eleven years, this initiative has changed countless lives through surgeries such as cataract removals, other eye surgeries, and the provision of eyeglasses.”

Similarly, Dr. Zakari Ikani, the Director-General of the Sani Bello Foundation, provided updates on the program’s progress.

“So far, we have treated over 500 patients, and we expect to exceed our target given the large turnout. We’ve distributed 1,255 medications, provided 1,000 eyeglasses, and performed 122 cataract surgeries, with more underway,” Dr. Ikani stated.

Beneficiaries of the program expressed heartfelt gratitude for the life-changing initiative. They commended the foundation’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and prayed for continued blessings for the founder.

The five-day free healthcare service addressed a wide range of medical conditions, including fibroids, appendicitis, goitre, lumps, hernia, hydrocele, and eye-related diseases. A team of medical specialists conducted the surgeries, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery in Niger State and beyond.
