Niger State Begins Payment Of Outstanding Gratuity To Retirees

Niger state government in North Central Nigeria; has commenced the payment of gratuities to 178 retired Civil Servants in the State.

The Director General of the State Pension Board, Nasir Namaska stated this during the official flag-off for the payment of the gratuities in Minna, the Niger State Capital on Thursday.

Namaska added that about 15,000 shortlisted retirees will benefit from the N14 billion Naira earmarked by the state government for State and local government retirees.

“The 1 Billion Naira released by the state government will be distributed by the Local government and state pension boards for disbursement to the retirees “.Namaska stressed.

Racheal Adeyanju one of the pensioners awaiting the payment for her gratitude after 9 years of retirement from Chanchaga Local government area of Niger State, Said her pension was also delayed for 5 years after retirement, She Say’s “I was told the list of Local government retired staff is not ready for screening and we don’t know how soon it would be ready”.

Mohammed Ahmed, who retired from the Service of Niger State for over 10 Years without a gratuity, says “I didn’t expect to get my gratuity now, but I’m grateful to Allah that I am on the list of those to be paid”.

Dahiru Ahmed, said he was not expecting the payment of his gratitude so soon after retirement from the service of the Niger State government for over 9 Years, “I hope others would also be captured for onward payment of their benefits”.

The Director General Of the Niger State Pension Board, Alhaji Sa’id Namaska however reiterated the commitment of the Niger State government to ensuring that outstanding payments of gratuity of pensioners are paid promptly.
