Niger State commences 2021 Fertilizer Sales to farmers

Niger state government in North Central Nigeria, has commenced the official sales and distribution of fertilizer for 2021 wet season at the cost of N8,000 per bag.
The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, Who flag off the event on Tuesday in Minna the State Capital, said the state has already procured 15,000 metric tons of fertilizers for distribution to farmers across the State.
The Deputy Governor Who further lamented on the insecurity activities bedeviling parts of the State, explained that the State government is doing everything possible to mitigating the security challenges in parts of the State state.
While assuring small scale farmers of subsidizing agricultural products, Alhaji Ketso , mentioned the Government has put in place, stringent measures on the activities of middlemen in fertilizer distributions across the State.
The Niger State commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Haliru Zakari Jikantoro, reassured the mostly peasant farmers in the State of accessing high quality inputs for farming activities and will implored all options possible to leverage on the vast opportunities abound in the state .
“The State Government is equally determined in ensuring food sufficiency and cash crops production to generate employment and wealth for the citizens to reduced youth restiveness”.
The Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria AFAN, Niger state chapter, Alhaji Shehu Galadima, who decried the state of insecurity in parts of the State, is seriously affecting farming activities in the State , however appealed to the government on implementing more drastic security across the farming Communities in the State , as farmers prepares for the 2021 farming Season.
