Niger State government in North Central Nigeria has sustained talks with the Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation on reviving the activities of the Corporation in the state.
The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello Who was in Ebute meta Lagos office of the Corporation in South west Nigeria, explained that his visit was a follow-up to their earlier discussions with the Corporation on how to reactivate their services in the state particularly in areas with immense Agricultural potentials.
The Governor in a statement by his spokesperson Mrs. Mary Noel Berkeley, noted that the reactivation of some of the locomotives and wagons, for the onward transportation in the state will definitely improved economic activities and create job opportunities.
“If we are able to reactivate some of the locomotives and wagons, it will help the market men and women to move within the state and to neighbouring Kaduna State,” added Governor Bello.
Governor Sani Bello reiterated his readiness to partner with the Railway Corporation to ensure that some of the coaches and wagons are refurbished for easier and comfortable transportation.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Mr. Fidet Okhiria in his remarks expressed delight with the move by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and assured him of all the necessary support to achieve the desired objectives.
