Niger State Governor Challenges N-HYPPADEC On Social Responsibility Projects

Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago has challenged the management of National – Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission N-HYPPADEC to embark on more social responsibility Projects to the benefit of the hosting state. 

Governor Bago made the disclosure while the management paid courtesy visit to the governor at government house Minna, expressed dismay that 32% benefit of the state was not enough.

He reiterated the commitment of the state government in partnering with the commission for effective and efficient service delivery, hence the Niger state has not been really recognised appropriately in position of power generation in Nigeria considering the state hosting of four dams.

The governor advocated for the need to ensure adequate sensitisation and enlightenment of the communities to save lives and properties of the citizens as well clearing water channels to curb flooding, just as to synergized with the state government in times of projects implementations to avoid duplication.

Earlier, the Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa appreciated the contributions of the state and the governor towards the actualization the commission and commitment for boosting the cordial working relationship for its operations.

Sadiq Yelwa revealed that the commission has amended its name to National – Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission

(N-HYPPADEC) while additional four states have been admitted that include; Gombe, Taraba, Nassarawa and Kaduna, noting that Niger state has the highest local councils of 17 with 3 area offices in New Bussa, Gwada and Bida respectively.
