The Governor of Niger State in Northcentral Nigeria, Mohammed Umaru Bago, expresses his condolences to the Borgu Emirate and the Government of Kebbi State following a tragic boat accident that resulted in fatalities in both Niger and Kebbi States.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Governor Bago expressed deep sorrow, describing the incident as a tragic and heart-wrenching occurrence.
He implored the people of the Agwara local government area, particularly the affected families, to find solace in accepting this incident as the will of Allah, emphasizing that divine decisions are infallible.
The governor offered prayers for the peaceful rest of the departed souls and beseeched Allah to provide solace and comfort to the entire Emirate during this trying time. Additionally, he prayed for the swift recovery of those who sustained injuries.
The Governor also conveyed his sincere condolences to the Government of Kebbi State, with a special mention of Yauri Emirate, for the loss of their citizens in the same unfortunate boat mishap.
The incident involved a boat carrying more than 20 traders en route to the Yauri fish market from Kasabo in the Agwara local government of Niger State, which capsized recently.
Currently, a total of six bodies have been retrieved, with four hailing from Niger State and two from Kebbi State. The search mission is still underway under the guidance of the Agwara desk officer at the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), with local divers and boat owners tirelessly working towards this endeavour.
