Niger State Governor orders review of Emir selection process

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state in North Central Nigeria , has directed for the review of the election process for the new Emir of Kontagora to enhance it’s credibility.
The secretary to the Niger state Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, who stated this in a statement to the media in Minna the state Capital , mentioned that the directive was to reinforce neutrality in the entire election process in Kontagora Emirate to achieve maximum results.
According to Matane “The Niger state Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, has ordered for a temporal swaping of portfolios between the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs with that of his counterpart of Youths and Development with immediate effect”.
“The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji ,now moves to the Ministry of Youth and Development while Mr Emmanuel Umar is deployed to the Ministry of Local Government “.added Matane.
The Niger state SSG further said the swaping of the commissioners is to properly review the election process of the new Emir of Local Kantagora.
Recently , some 47 contestants for the royal stool of the Kontagora Emirate in the state petitioned the process of selecting the new Emir of Kontagora over alleged misgivings in the process.
The scramble for the royal stool of kontagora in Niger state started after the demise of the late Emir, Alhaji Saidu Namaska on the 9th of September, 2021 with about 47 People contesting to be turbanned to the throne Kontagora Emirate.
