The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has been recognized for his outstanding efforts in transforming the state’s agricultural landscape and infrastructure development.

The governor was awarded the Best Governor on Agriculture and Infrastructure Award by Blueprint Newspaper during the 2025 Blueprint Public Lecture, Impact Series, and Awards Ceremony.

The award acknowledges Governor Bago’s commitment to expanding food production, empowering farmers, and repositioning Niger State as Nigeria’s food basket.

His administration has also made significant investments in rural and urban infrastructure to drive economic growth and connectivity across the state.

Representing Governor Bago at the ceremony, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hajia Binta Mamman, expressed gratitude to Blueprint Newspaper for recognizing the administration’s efforts.

“This award is a testament to Governor Bago’s vision to transform Niger State through robust agricultural investments and infrastructure renewal,” she said.

Governor Bago’s administration has implemented various initiatives, including large-scale mechanized farming, irrigation development, value-chain improvement, and rural road rehabilitation.

These initiatives aim to improve market access for farmers, reduce post-harvest losses, and stimulate local economies.

The Blueprint Award further solidifies Governor Bago’s reputation as a leader committed to practical, people-centred governance and sustainable development.
