Niger State judiciary sacks judge, 27 others

The Niger state Judicial Service Commission (NSJC), in North Central Nigeria, has sacked a Sharia Court judge and his registrar over allegations of N400 Million fraud.

 

The Sharia court judge was alleged to have diverted the sum of N400 million belonging to the family of a late business man, Alhaji Labaran Kago.

 

Son of the deceased, Alhaji Mustapha Labaran Kago, who petitioned the Shariah Court judge before the chief judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, mentioned that the money was the proceed of sales of their estates in Abuja and Minna which was ordered to be sold by the family through the court, to be shared by the heirs of the deceased.

 

The chief judge of Niger State, constituted a 7-man committee headed by Justice Balkisu Gambo Yusuf, to investigate the allegations raised in the petition which indicted the Shariah Court judge and the registrar.

The commission, according to the Secretary of Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSC), Alhaji Abdulrahman Ahmed Garafini, stated that 27 judicial staff involved in certificate racketeering have also been sacked .
