The Niger state government in North Central Nigeria has organised a special prayer session for the nation’s 62nd independence anniversary
The Governor Of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, who joined other Muslim faithful in the special prayer session at the Minna Central Mosque on Sunday, said this was to return the country back to normalcy.
Sheik Ali bin Rabiu al Tijjani, leader of the Tijjaniyya Islamic sect worldwide, and Shiek Shehu Tijjani an Algerian Islamic Scholar attended the special prayer session .1
Sheik Rabiu, Al Tijjani who led the prayers described Nigerians as peaceful and loving people.
He urged them to continue to fear Allah in their dealings with each other and maintain peaceful co-existence among the different faiths existing in the country.
The Director General, Religious Affairs of Niger State, Sheik Abubakar Mohammed Rabiu Beji commended the Governor for facilitating the visit of the Leader of the Tijjaniyya Sect worldwide to come and pray along with them.
“It is a clear demonstration that he is a Governor for everyone in the state.“
The Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, Mallam Ibrahim Isah Fari led other Ulamas to pray for the country at 62 and for peace and progress.
Similarly, in a statement by the spokesperson of the Governor, Mary Noel Berne, prayers for a more prosperous Nation were offered at some of the Churches in the state.
At St. Michael Catholic Cathedral, Reverend Father Rueben Shaba in his homily called on Nigerians to wake up to reality, and as citizens see what they can do to make the country better.
He urged the people to imbibe honesty and be responsive to each other irrespective of one’s religion
