The Commissioner of Police in Charge of Election Zone A Senatorial District, Susan Horsfall has assured the residents of adequate security in Niger State South Senatorial District for Saturday’s Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly Elections.
CP Horsfall made the pledge while speaking to Voice of Nigeria about the preparedness of the police in ensuring a peaceful election.
She noted that security measures have been provided for the over 250 polling units in the Local Government Area.
“Our areas of responsibilities are covered. Our men have been adequately deployed to all the polling units in all the local governments to ensure that there will be no breakdown of law and order during the election period.
“All these have been made possible by the effort of the Inspector General of Police who have deployed more mobile men from different units to come and support the men on ground here in Bida.“ She said.
CP Horsfall added that the police have been proactive even before the election and no possible threats have been foreseen.
Similarly, the Assistant Electoral Officer Operations Bida Local Government Area Mr Abubakar Suleiman has pledged INEC readiness for Saturday’s Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly Elections.
Mr Suleiman said the sensitive materials have already been received, and as such all efforts are on gear to ensure that the materials arrive at the polling units early so that voting will commence as early as possible Saturday morning.
“We have 14 wards in Bida and 270 polling units. Everything that we will need for the election is ready. And as you can see all the buses, we have 25 buses as against fourteen wards, ready to take the materials, And as early as 6:00 am all the ad-hoc staff and the materials will be at their polling units.“ Mr Suleiman added.
