Niger State: Security Personnel neutralize over 200 bandits

Over 200 bandits have been neutralized by security personnel in an effort to curtail the lingering banditry activities in parts of Niger State, North Central Nigeria.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Internal Security, in Niger state, Mr Emmanuel stated this during a press briefing on Wednesday in Minna, the state capital.

Umar who further said some of the bandits escaped with various degrees of injuries in the 3 days joint operations by security operatives stated that over 60 motorcycles belonging to the bandits have been abandoned by the hoodlums.

“From our findings, the neutralised bandits and their commanders were from the groups of renown bandit kingpins terrorising states in North Central and North western part of the country,  like Ali kawaji, yellow janbros, kachalla Halilu and Bello turji.”

He applauded the efforts of various security outfits in the ongoing operations against banditry activities in Niger state and within,  however, appreciated the support of traditional rulers,  local vigilantes, opinion leaders and other stakeholders for their various effort in curtailing the menace of banditry and other criminal activities across the state.
