Niger State set to host Inaugural Green Economy Summit

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to attend the first-ever Green Economy Summit in Niger State, North Central Nigeria.
The summit will feature the unveiling of the State Green Economy Blueprint, charting a sustainable development path for the region.
This two-day event,which is scheduled to hold on 24th and 25th of October 2023, in the state capital, Minna, will focus on the theme: “Sustainable Future: Harnessing Green Assets Innovation for Niger State’s Development.”
An official statement from Government House, Minna reveals that the summit, hosted by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, is expected to draw over 500 participants from diverse global backgrounds.
This strategically timed event aligns with the United Nations International Day for Climate Action and will serve as a platform for discussions and solutions regarding decarbonizing energy systems, circular economy, waste management, green agriculture, food security, eco-tourism, and community development, among other critical topics.
The primary objectives of the Niger State Green Economy Summit are to attract local and international investors interested in green asset trading, green technologies, renewable energy projects, and sustainable financing initiatives.
Furthermore, the summit will focus on empowering local communities with the knowledge and resources required for eco-friendly practices and embracing green initiatives.
It also aims to facilitate technology transfer and knowledge sharing for the effective adoption and implementation of sustainable greenhouse solutions in Niger State.
The summit will emphasize on:
- Exploring green business opportunities
- Advancing renewable energy projects
- Promoting sustainable agriculture
- Boosting eco-tourism to drive economic diversification
- Showcasing innovative green technologies and best practices from around the world
- Creating job opportunities, among other critical topics.
Distinguished speakers at the summit will include: Engr.
