Niger state Government in North Central Nigeria, has concluded plans to resuscitate ailing government agencies  that have been neglected for decades.

The Governor of the state, Abubakar Sani Bello, who stated this during a visit to the government printing press in Minna, the state capital on Thursday, said sustainability is very important and government investments should be made functional and effective.

The Governor also said government will work towards repositioning the printing press to compete favourably with any other, by getting the needed modern machines, as most of the machines in the printing press were installed 45 years ago.

“Once we are able to change some of these equipment, the Niger State Printing Press will become the state of the art Printing Press and will be able to compete with any other Printing Press. It will also serve as a source of revenue generation for the printing press and government”, he said.

Reports show that some government  production agencies  suffered negligence due to either lack of commitment or ineffective management.

The Director of the Printing Press, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed, pointed out that inefficient working equipment and experts are part of the major challenges affecting  the proper functioning of the organization.

The Chairman of the Niger state house of Assembly Committee on Rules and Business, Abdullahi Shaba Gbara, also explained that the Committee members had earlier visited the printing press for assessment as part of their oversight functions and saw the need for urgent government intervention to resuscitate the establishment.

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello assured his administration’s commitment in revamping ailing government investments so as to add value to the State and the nation.
