The graduands also comprised nine officers and 191 airmen/airwomen.
Addressing the graduands, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) AVM Hassan Abubakar said the graduand’s capacity being robustly developed, would be a key enabler of airpower employment and projection.
Abubakar, represented by AVM Muhammad Yusuf, the Director of Administration, NAF Headquarters explained that the knowledge the personnel acquired was consistent with his aspiration of attaining a high level of self-sufficiency for the service.
He mentioned that the achievement, alongside many other remarkable accomplishments NAF witnessed in recent years, was in line with the paradigm of continually pursuing purposeful training and human capacity development of all NAF personnel.
“It is expected that your knowledge will come in handy in strengthening the groups and wings across the country,” he stressed.
The AVM, therefore, urged the personnel to exhibit a high level of professionalism in discharging their assigned tasks.
The CAS also tasked them with being law-abiding citizens during Internal security operations and complying with rules of engagement in addition to their core mandate of protecting NAF critical assets.
He also urged them to uphold the tenets of good civil-military relations for which the NAF was known, while also urging other training institutions to emulate the NAFIAM’s approach to training to bridge the current deficit for skilled manpower in affected specialities and trades.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for his resolve to continue supporting NAF and the Nigerian Armed Forces in general.
The CAS also extended gratitude to the National Assembly’s relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies for their support to the NAF, particularly in ensuring the requisite budgetary provisions for the Service to meet its training and operation objectives.
He commended the Commandant of the institute, while also acknowledging the Air Officers Commanding Air and Ground Training Command for their support in moulding and equipping the graduands with requisite knowledge, skills and attitude for improving their capacity.
Earlier, the Commandant of NAFIAM, Air Commodore Abdulrasheed Kotun said the Institute runs three categories of sundry courses which were basic, upgrading/intermediate and advanced courses.
According to him, the objective of the basic courses was to impart skills and requisite knowledge of non-technical ground trades to officers and airmen/airwomen that would make them perform proficiently in their assigned NAF specialities/trades.
He thanked the CAS for his exceptional interest in the affairs of the NAFIAM, exhibited through total support for its training programmes and the benefit from massive infrastructural development.
To reciprocate the gestures, Kotun restated the Institute’s commitment to continue to strive to turn out high-quality manpower that would contribute positively to the attainment of the NAF mission.
