In response to recent media reports regarding the revival of the National Carrier project, “Nigeria Air,” Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued a clarification.
He stated that he did not make any statements regarding a mandate to revive the previously stalled Nigeria Air deal with Ethiopian Airlines.
This clarification was issued in a press statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I received no such instruction,” he stated.
He clarified that his earlier remarks were misinterpreted and merely referenced the general vision of the current administration to explore the possibility of a national carrier project, provided it aligns with the nation’s interests and is guided by directives from President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo.
He added, “I hope this clears all ambiguities surrounding my earlier statement on this issue.”
Dr. Kana also emphasised his commitment to working collaboratively with the minister to advance the aviation sector’s agenda.
“On a personal note, I pledge absolute loyalty to the minister and remain dedicated to working closely with him to drive the ministry’s vision forward,” he said.
Dr. Ibrahim Kana assumed office following the retirement of his predecessor, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole.
