Nigeria Celebrates Trinidad and Tobago on Its Independence Anniversary

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago as the nation commemorates its Independence Anniversary.

A statement by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, noted that the anniversary represents the enduring spirit, unity, and determination of the people of Trinidad and Tobago in their pursuit of sovereignty, democracy, and national progress.

He also expressed Nigeria’s desire to share in the historic celebration, which reflects shared values of freedom, resilience, and the quest for sustainable development.

“Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago share warm and cordial relations, rooted in common ties within the Commonwealth and bolstered by cooperation in culture, education, trade, and multilateral diplomacy. Both nations also work together within the United Nations, the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP), and other international fora to promote peace, global security, and equitable growth.

“On this auspicious occasion, Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship and partnership with Trinidad and Tobago, while exploring new avenues of collaboration for the mutual benefit of both countries,” he said.
