Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mohammed Bello-Koko has said that Nigeria would collaborate with the government and people of Belgium to make the country’s seaports efficient and globally competitive.

Bello-Koko noted that the collaboration step was hinged on the massive upgrade and renewal of port infrastructure as NPA has equally embarked on a port community system in conjunction with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), in line with efforts to automate the port and harbour systems in the country to engender efficiency.

Represented by the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Onari Brown, the Managing Director assured the Ambassador of Belgium to Nigeria, His Excellency, Daniel Bertrand, who led a delegation of the country’s business community on trade mission to the NPA headquarters’ office in Lagos State, that Nigeria was open to collaborations on port development.

The Ambassador, who commended the NPA management on its recent efforts to automate port and harbours operations in the country in addition to the infrastructure upgrade, noted that the business community in Belgium was ready to invest and do business in Nigeria’s port industry.
