Nigeria Congratulates Mauritania on Independence Anniversary

The Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar has congratulated the Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Ambassador Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, on the commemoration his Independence Anniversary.

Ambassador Tuggar believes that Mauritania’s Independence Anniversary stands as a profound reminder of the courage, unity, and enduring resilience of the Mauritanian people in their historic pursuit of sovereignty, peace, and national development.

A statement by the Nigerian Minister said: “As Nigeria joins in celebrating this milestone, the country reaffirms the shared values of dignity, self-determination, and African solidarity that continue to guide relations between both nations.

“Nigeria and Mauritania enjoy long-standing relations strengthened through cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, maritime affairs, education, and security.

“The two countries also collaborate closely within the African Union (AU), the G5 Sahel, the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations, advancing regional stability, counter-terrorism efforts, sustainable development, and south-south cooperation,”  the statement read.

The Minister reaffirmed that Nigeria remains ready to work alongside Mauritania in addressing shared regional and global challenges, while supporting collective aspirations for peace, stability, and inclusive progress across the African continent.
