Nigeria, EU Firms Partner to Expand Broadband, Digital Literacy
In a significant move towards advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has welcomed representatives from two European companies, Consulting & Management (C&M) and EUROPE Ltd.
The firms have been awarded a European Union-funded contract to support the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) in expanding broadband infrastructure and increasing digital literacy to 70% by 2027.

The delegation, led by Judit Erdos, visited NITDA’s headquarters, where they engaged in discussions on the implementation of the National Digital Literacy Framework. Their mission was to evaluate progress and update data from a previous World Bank study on Nigeria’s digital landscape.

With the nation setting an ambitious target of 70% digital literacy in the next three years, the meeting focused on key challenges, achievements, and policy recommendations. Officials explored solutions for bridging the digital divide, expanding internet access, and enhancing the digital skills of Nigerians.
The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s broader digital strategy, which prioritises the development of digital infrastructure, innovation, and inclusion. By leveraging international expertise and investment, the partnership is expected to accelerate the country’s journey toward a more connected and digitally empowered future.
