Nigeria Felicitates Tunisia on Independence Anniversary

The Nigerian government has extended warm congratulations to the Republic of Tunisia on the occasion of its Independence anniversary, reaffirming strong bilateral ties and shared commitments to African development.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, conveyed his felicitations to his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti, marking the historic milestone of Tunisia’s independence in 1956.

The statement described the anniversary as a significant moment in Tunisia’s history, symbolising its enduring dedication to sovereignty, national progress, and democratic development. Nigeria also commended the resilience and achievements of the Tunisian people over the decades.

Highlighting the longstanding relationship between both countries, Nigeria noted that ties with Tunisia have remained cordial and mutually beneficial, built on shared values of mutual respect, African solidarity, and constructive engagement.

Both nations continue to collaborate actively within international platforms such as the African Union and the United Nations to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development across the continent.

Nigeria also acknowledged Tunisia’s contributions to regional stability and economic growth in North Africa, while emphasising the importance of expanding cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, education, tourism, and cultural exchange.

The Nigerian government reaffirmed its commitment to deepening bilateral relations through sustained diplomatic engagement and broader cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The statement concluded with Nigeria wishing the government and people of Tunisia continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
