The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been fully integrated into the nation’s security architecture to work along with other security agencies.
The Commandant General (CG) of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, disclosed this during the Commandant’s quarterly briefing in Abuja.
Dr. Audi, who commended the office of the National Security Adviser for the upliftment of the standard of the Corps, noted that the development has given the Corps more challenges and responsibilities to perform on its mandate of providing adequate security to the lives and property in the country.
The Commandant General, who charged the Commandants to ensure adequate work relationships with other security agencies in terms of collaboration, coordination and cooperation, said the Corps is ever determined to serve the country favourably.
“The Corps within my three years of administration recorded tremendous achievements in our various areas of our mandate,” he said.
He, however, informed that the Corps has developed various strategic action plans geared towards repositioning the Corps to a world-class service.
He also directed personnel of the Corps to rigorously pursue and implement the agency’s mandate, stressing that the Corps will not rest on its oars to ensure that the directive of Mr President on the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure is carried out to the latter.

The Commandant General maintained that such resilience had led to the arrest of more than 20,000 trailers used for vandalisation, control of illegal mining activities and resolution of over 500 cases between farmers and herders since the establishment of the Agro Rangers Department.
He reiterated that such commitment and dedication have also destroyed over 350 illegal refineries and oil dumps in the country within the last three years.
“We must vigorously implement the Corps mandate, and in doing so, you must be seen to work greatly to give instructions and monitor your subordinates,” he stated.
He further maintained that the Corps which is part of Nigeria’s security architecture, is specifically to ensure the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) against vandalism, regulate activities of Private Guard Companies, and participate in disaster management, amongst others, emphasizing that such duties must be in synergy with sister agencies.
He called for improved surveillance and actionable intelligence, highlighting the need to develop counter-revolutionary action to confront adversaries.
“My administration places high premium on training and retraining of personnel adding that NSCDC training institutes have been resuscitated and all training curricular approved for all career development programmes which are mandatory for all personnel,” he stressed.
He pledged his administration’s determination to the upliftment of personnel welfare and symbolically presented cheques to six next of kin of deceased personnel, among the 150 being Group Personal Accident and Group Life insurance benefits of those who died and sustained injuries in the line of duty amounting to N2, 961, 857,736.83 billion.
