Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has been hailed as a major driver of transparency and economic development as it marks its 35th anniversary.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi, during the anniversary, highlighted the Commission’s role in strengthening public trust and service delivery.
Rimi emphasised CAC’s longstanding responsibility in regulating corporate activities and maintaining official business records across the country.
According to him, “Since its establishment in 1990, the Corporate Affairs Commission has been the custodian of corporate regulations and records in Nigeria.”
Digital Platforms
He commended the Commission’s transition from manual operations to digital platforms, describing it as a critical step in meeting evolving economic demands.
“From the days of manual registration to the present era of digital transformation, the Commission has continuously evolved to meet the dynamic needs of the economy.”
The chairman House of Representatives Committee on Commerce, Ahmed Munir at the event, pledged sustained legislative backing to strengthen the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as it drives digital reforms and economic expansion.
“Our committee remains committed to providing legislative support, necessarily to further enhance your digital infrastructure and transparency.”
Munir commended the Commission’s role in simplifying business registration and promoting economic inclusion across the country.
He said, “By simplifying the path of idea to the corporation, you have empowered millions of entrepreneurs to move from the former sector into the structured economy.”
