The Nigerian Government has launched the Nigeria Mineral Resources Decision Support System (NMDSS) to enhance the ease of doing business in the mining sector.

At the launch of the project, the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr Dele Alake emphasized the government’s commitment to providing prospective investors with seamless access to essential information about Nigeria’s mineral deposits, policies, and investment incentives.

“This digital platform serves as a strategic marketing tool to facilitate investment in the solid minerals sector,” the Minister said.

According to Dr Alake,Prospective foreign investors can now access all necessary information with just a click, from anywhere in the world, making informed investment decisions easier than ever before.”

The Minister also highlighted the ongoing efforts to reform the mining sector, including the introduction of the mining marshals, which have successfully curbed the activities of illegal miners.

Additionally, he noted thatapproximately 152 cooperatives have been established by artisanal miners to formalize their operations, aligning with his 7-point agenda aimed at sanitizing and revitalizing the mining industry.”

In his remarks, the Minister of Interior, Tunji Olubunmi-Ojo, hailed the launch of the NMDSS as a game-changer that will significantly attract foreign investments.

Drawing inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s success in diversifying its economy, with non-oil industries contributing to over 50% of its GDP, Olubunmi-Ojo expressed confidence that Nigeria can achieve similar feats.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Mary Ogbe, urged stakeholders and Nigerians to showcase the country’s vast solid minerals potential, emphasizing that the present administration’s reforms are steadily repositioning the mining sector.

NMDSS is a comprehensive software platform offering a one-stop shop for investors seeking credible information about Nigeria’s mineral resources, facilities, and infrastructure.
