Nigeria’s female national team, the Super Falcons has qualified for this year’s African Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
A goal in each half was all the team needed to secure a place at the Africa championship where they hope to defend their title.
A first half penalty awarded to Nigeria was wasted by Azizat Ashoala but the pressure by the Nigerian attack eventually paid off with the first goal in the dying minutes from forward Rita Chikwelu when she tapped the ball from a close range to put Nigeria in the lead.
It took just few seconds upon resumption of play in second half for Igbinovia to make it 2-0 for the Falcon ending the game with the same margin.
The game was not without a little bit of drama as the Senegalese head coach, Bassouare Diaby was sent off by the match official following his unruly behaviour.
The Falcons will now join other qualifiers, for the final showdown in Cameroon from November 19 to December 3.
