Nigeria Qualifies for World Relay Championships in Botswana.

Nigeria’s women’s 4x400m relay team has qualified for the World Relays Championships , scheduled for Botswana in May 2026, after a thrilling performance at the MTN CHAMPS in Calabar, Cross River State.

Led by veteran Patience Okon-George with members Anita Enaruna, Treasure Okereke, and Jecinter Lawrence, the team clocked 3:31.14, securing 21st place in the World Rankings and displacing Mexico.

This marks Nigeria’s second World Relays qualification at an MTN CHAMPS competition, following the mixed 4x100m team’s success in Lagos last year.

The men’s 4x400m team narrowly missed qualification, finishing 1.13 seconds shy of the required mark.

Other standout performances came from Toheebat Jimoh, who won the women’s 200m in a personal best 24.51 seconds and Samuel Kure, who dominated the men’s javelin throw with 77.50m.
