Nigeria Set For International Breakdance Championship In France

Fame Foundation in conjunction with the French embassy in Nigeria, has concluded arrangements to select a talented male and female Breakdancer to represent Nigeria at the International Breakdance Championship holding in France, next year.

 

At the Lagos qualifier, which was concluded at the Alliance Francaise, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos, nine Breakdancers (boys and girls) were selected to join their counterparts from other states, Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to take part in the grand finale of the National qualifiers, which will take place in November in Lagos.

 

Speaking after the qualifiers in Lagos, Executive Director, Fame Foundation, Aderonke Bello, said that their aim is to groom young sports talents to stardom in Nigeria by using the Breakdance qualifiers to create more awareness ahead the Paris 2024 Olympics.

 

Bello revealed that 32 Breakdancers would take part in the national finals, where one male and one female winner will emerge.

“They will automatically be sponsored by the French Embassy in Nigeria to the International Breakdance event next year,” he stated.

 

The nine dancers selected from the Lagos national qualifiers were Umanah Victor, Edun Olaide, Unel Isaae, Akinkunmi Nancy, Barnabas Angel, David Wonderful, Idris Salaam, Adesoye Victoria and Akinbogun Victoria.
