Nigeria has showcased its programmes and efforts to advance inclusive social development through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the Second World Summit on Social Development in Qatar.

Delivering the country’s statement on behalf of President Tinubu at the Summit, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said Nigeria’s vision for social development is anchored on “people-centred governance, poverty eradication, human capital development, and inclusive growth.”

She noted that over the past year, the administration had “implemented transformative policies designed to expand opportunities, reduce vulnerabilities, enhance social cohesion, while placing women, children, families, and the vulnerable at the centre of national development.”

According to her, the country’s efforts align with the Copenhagen and Doha Declarations, which promote shared prosperity and inclusion.

“We established the Regional Development Ministry and development agencies across all six geopolitical zones of the country to drive catalytic transformation…Our award-winning initiatives have been activated to accelerate and drive balanced territorial development while ensuring no community is left behind.” she stated.

She highlighted the creation of a National Social Investment Agency, through which “millions of Nigerians are benefiting from conditional cash transfers, youth empowerment schemes, school meals, and enterprise support, triggering multidimensional prosperity anchored by a national social register.”

On digital transformation, she disclosed that “in 2025, Nigeria launched a more enhanced National Digital Identity Portal — a secure system that enhances access to public services, ensures ease of travel, and supports targeted social protection delivery.”

She added that inclusive growth requires “generational investment in youth, creativity, and innovation,” noting the establishment of the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund and Creative Economy Development Fund to “unleash the potential of young Nigerians, especially women, as creators of value and drivers of sustainable growth.”

Sulaiman-Ibrahim further spotliggted the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention 774 aiming to “empower over 10 million women within the next five years, strengthen family systems, and institutionalise care systems through structured social workforce reforms.”

She also mentioned frameworks like the Alternate Care Framework and Family Cohesion and Advancement Framework designed to “support family welfare, parental resilience, and community-based social care.

“In Nigeria, we believe that inclusive social development is not an aspiration but an obligation that demands shared responsibility, political will, and renewed multilateral cooperation,” she said.

The Minister said Nigeria envisions “a world where every woman, every child, every family thrives in dignity, where social protection is universal, and gender equality is a lived experience.

“May the spirit of solidarity and shared humanity guide our common journey towards inclusive social development for all.”

Nigeria’s position underscores unwavering commitment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, guided by the principles of equity, resilience, and sustainability.
