The National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) has said Nigeria supplies more than 50 percent of seeds used in West Africa.

The Director-General of the Council, Dr Philip Ojo, stated this during a road march for quality seeds to mark the 2021 annual SEEDCONNECT Africa Conference and Exhibition held in Abuja.

The campaign, which was aimed at promoting the use of improved quality seeds and other agriculture enhancing technology for productivity was led by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr Mohammad Abubakar.

According to Ojo, Nigeria has gotten invitations from other countries in West Africa that are interested in studying its seed production system.

“Other countries in West Africa are coming to learn what makes us big in seed production.

“Countries such as Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Ghana will be coming with their delegates to study what we are doing here,” he said.
