Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action (SPEC), Ajuri Ngelale, has met with BURN Manufacturing, a clean cooking stove manufacturing company, to explore ways to promote clean cooking solutions in the country.

This is in effort to confront the climate and health crises caused by emissions from unclean cooking practices.

Ngelale met on Wednesday with the Executive of BURN, Oluwayemisi Adekunle, in his office at the State House, Abuja.

BURN Manufacturing, which has factory in Kano and another to open in Lagos soon, produces vertically-integrated, clean cooking stoves that significantly reduces harmful emissions and improve the health and livelihoods of millions of Nigerians.

“This evening, I met with an executive from BURN Manufacturing, which is a vertically-integrated, clean cooking stove manufacturing company with a factory in Kano and another factory opening soon in Lagos state.

“With polluting emissions from unclean cooking practices generating both climate and health crises across Nigeria’s rural settlements and urban centers, clean cooking stove manufacturing and supply hold the potential of extending lifespans, creating wealth, and generating carbon credits for Nigeria’s economic development moving forward”,

Ngelale was earlier on Wednesday briefed on internal reforms at the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) by its leadership team, led by Director General, Dr. Nkeiruka Maduekwe.

The reforms targets to boost donor and stakeholder confidence in Nigeria’s climate change efforts.

“Earlier in the day, I was briefed on internal reforms at the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) by the NCCC leadership team, led by the DG of the NCCC, Dr Nkeiruka Maduekwe.

“The tremendous work being done is comprehensive and will certainly boost donor/stakeholder confidence once unveiled”, he said.

The adoption of clean cooking stoves could significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality in rural and urban areas.

The meeting between Ngelale and BURN Manufacturing executives indicates promising step towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for Nigeria.
