Nigeria Tennis federation unveils plans for February
The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTTF) has unveiled its scheduled programmes for February.
NTTF president, Ifedayo Akindoju, in a statement said that the federation would be involved in local and international competitions.
He listed some of the events as VEMP Wheelchair International Tennis Open, World Team Cup , Africa qualification and the ITF J30 Junior Circuit.
He said the wheelchair tournament would take place from Feb. 4 to Feb.6.
“This competition will be sponsored by the president of the federation. The sum of three thousand dollars is up for grab,” he said.
Ifedayo said the World Team cup, Africa qualification zone, would be hosted by Nigeria for the second consecutive year.
He said the event was scheduled for Feb. 7 to Feb.11, while ten countries had indicated interest to participate.
The president further confirmed date for the ITF J30 to be hosted between Feb.14 and Feb. 25 in Abuja while the J60category would hold in June.
“Our players and coaches are already in camp for the events. They are expected to slug it out with Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, Rwanda Morocco, Cameroon and Mauritius,” he said.
Nigeria will be represented by 12 players at the World Team Cup.
