Nigeria to Boost Aviation Safety, Efficiency with Advanced Technology
The Nigerian government has announced plans to adopt advanced technologies to enhance aviation safety, improve passenger experience, and increase operational efficiency in the sector.
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, made the announcement on Saturday in Abuja at a symposium marking the 25th anniversary of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The event, themed “Human Capital Development: Upskilling the Next Generation of Aviators,” emphasised the role of innovation in shaping the future of aviation in Nigeria.

Represented by Dr. Ibrahim Kana, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Keyamo underscored the importance of technological advancements in fostering economic growth while maintaining high safety and security standards in aviation.
“Aviation safety is not a one-time achievement but a continuous process of adaptation and improvement. With advancements in technology, rising passenger demands, and increasing globalisation, the dynamics of aviation safety are evolving rapidly,” he said.

Keyamo highlighted the government’s commitment to rejuvenating and repositioning Nigeria’s aviation sector to align with the country’s socio-economic and political landscape.
The symposium, he noted, aimed to generate long-term solutions for a more resilient air transport industry.
NCAA Director-General Capt. Chris Najomo reflected on the agency’s 25-year journey, emphasizing its critical role in shaping Nigeria’s aviation landscape through regulatory excellence and safety oversight.
“NCAA was built on the growth achieved by its predecessor organizations through remarkable transformations, from regulatory reforms to advancements in aviation safety and service delivery,” Najomo stated.
He added that the agency remains committed to adopting new technologies, enhancing operational efficiencies, and fostering strategic partnerships to elevate Nigeria’s aviation industry to global standards.
Najomo also reaffirmed the NCAA’s alignment with the minister’s Five-Point Agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritize infrastructure development, safety enhancement, economic growth, and job creation.
“As we chart the course over the next 25 years and beyond, let us reaffirm our resolve to uphold the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and global best practices,” he concluded.
