President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to expanding economic and diplomatic ties with Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The President emphasised the need to strengthen bilateral relations and explore shared opportunities for growth.

Speaking after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Terrance Michael Drew, at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu described the visit as a significant step in fostering deeper connections between Africa and the Caribbean.

“It’s a very great opportunity for Africa to connect widely, and Nigeria in particular, to strengthen our bilateral relations and examine and exploit all the economic opportunities that are available to us so that we can achieve more for ourselves,” President Tinubu said.

Prime Minister Drew, who was in Nigeria as part of an investment summit, shared the same opinion noting that the visit was aimed at forging stronger ties between the Caribbean and Africa.

“I came here from Saint Kitts and Nevis, the CARICOM, the Caribbean, and we are seeking to establish greater ties between the Caribbean and our African brothers and sisters here, as we call it, the motherland,” he said.

The prime minister highlighted key areas of potential cooperation, including agriculture, energy, logistics, transport, and trade.

He emphasised the importance of food security, aligning with President Tinubu’s vision for food sovereignty, and revealed ongoing discussions with Nigerian firms about investment opportunities in Saint Kitts and Nevis.

We are looking at energy as well as logistics and transport and trade. We have discussed a number of other areas, including education, but those are the key sectors we are focusing on at this particular time”, he added.
