Nigeria to explore pageant for human rights promotion

The National Human Rights Commission in Nigeria, in collaboration with the House of Eden has unveiled a project called, “The Human Rights African International Pageant’’ THRAIP
The Pageant is a reality show that aims to showcase human rights culture throughout the African Continent, targeting the youth both in Africa and the Diaspora.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, Tony Ojukwu  said his leadership always look at progressive measures and innovative ways of getting the gospel of human rights to every nook and cranny of Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
’’The implementation of this project will only benefitting the individual citizens of Nigeria in particular but will also be contributing to the fulfillment of major obligations and commitments of the country in the realm of human rights in Africa and the world at large,’’ he said
According to Mr. Ojukwu, the objective of the pageantry are; ’’to bring empowering awareness, knowledge and information on human rights with regards to balancing power, human rights and leadership.
To create a rising consciousness among Nigerian and African leaders, the importance of human rights to balancing power, human rights and leadership among others’’
The Founder, House of Eden, Princess Barbara Amaka Udoh, in her remark said other objectives of the project are to establish and retain a frontal pride of place for national and continental discussion on human rights across Africa, acquaint the African population with the concerns of human rights administration and management as fundamental aspects of democracy and good governance to mention but few.
Princess Udoh also said that ’’in order to achieve these objectives, contestants will explore the Human Rights thematic areas of promotion of rights to life, rights to education and rights to socio-economic empowerment among others’’
The project is expected to become a groundbreaking event that will define and launch the next generation of Africa’s greatest leaders.
