The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face DR Congo in the 2026 FIFA World Cup CAF playoff finale.

Nigeria is one win from the Inter-Continental FIFA World Cup Play-Off after overpowering Gabon 4–1 in extra time in Rabat and will now face the Democratic Republic of Congo in the CAF playoff final.

The Super Eagles will return to Stade Prince Heritier Moulay Hassan on Sunday to face DR Congo for a shot at the FIFA Play-Off Tournament and, ultimately, a place at World Cup 2026.

Nigeria have a tough path to qualify for the World Cup next year. After beating Gabon, the next challenge will be to beat DR Congo. But that will not be all.

The biggest challenge will come in March 2026 with three Inter-Continental Play-Off between March 23rd – 31st in Mexico. Africa’s representative will join Bolivia (CONMEBOL), New Caledonia (OFC), two teams from CONCACAF and one from the AFC (Asia).

Just two of the six nations will qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Although the group stage draw will be done next month, the final slots will not be decided until March 2026.

The Super Eagles now stand a match away from the March Inter-Continental Play-Off. Victory on Sunday would move Nigeria closer to a seventh World Cup appearance in their last nine attempts.
