Nigeria to Host Regional Broadcast and Digital Media Convention

Nigeria is set to host the 2025 edition of the Broadcasting and Digital Media Convention – West Africa in Lagos from August 6 to 7, with key stakeholders from across the continent expected to attend.

Themed; “Broadcasting and Content Publishing in the AI-Infused Digital Ecosystem,” the high-level forum is jointly organised by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON). It aims to provide senior-level broadcasters and media professionals with strategic insight into digital transformation, policy shifts, and revenue innovation within the regional media space.

The convention will feature keynote speeches, executive sessions, panel discussions, and technology showcases on critical topics including artificial intelligence, public service broadcasting, content localisation, digital infrastructure, and monetisation models for media platforms.

Voice of Nigeria’s Director-General, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, will be among the speakers and panellists to discuss on; “Leaders Discussion: Exploring How Connectivity and Convergence Status Impacts Digital Broadcast Media Operations.”

The event’s opening day will also feature a keynote on “Broadcasting in the Age of AI: Digital Media Feasibility and Opportunities for International Radio,” followed by high-level sessions exploring infrastructure gaps, local content strategies, and the future of advertising in a converged digital world.

Day two will focus on AI adoption, podcasting, content streaming, and evolving media consumption trends. Industry players will discuss how broadcasters can remain competitive, build new revenue pipelines, and engage younger, mobile-first audiences.

The event will also tackle regulatory and policy changes needed to strengthen regional cooperation and ensure inclusive digital growth across West Africa.

The 2025 convention is expected to shape policy directions and strengthen industry capacity as West African broadcasters navigate rapid shifts in technology and audience behaviour.
