Nigeria, U.S partner to improve ICT sector

The United States Chamber of Commerce has indicated interest to collaborate with Nigeria to promote the ICT sector of the Economy and improve Job opportunities in the country.

The Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs US Chamber of Commerce ,Mr Myron Brilliant disclosed this when the delegates paid courtesy visit to the Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu in Abuja.

Mr Adebayo Shittu who welcomed the United States Plan to develop the ICT sector in Nigeria said “the US Chamber is cueing into the road map already established in the ICT sector in Nigeria.”

The Minister also said that the initiative for the US chamber of Commerce to come visiting in the ministry of Communication is an appreciation and acknowledgement that Nigeria is a place to go in business particularly in the African continent.

“If the US chamber succeeds in Nigeria they have succeeded in the entire African continent”.

Mr Myron Brilliant said US chamber of Commerce is in Nigeria to foster close economic ties between Nigeria and the United States, adding that technology is the driver of every country’s Economy”.

Mr Brilliant said the United States wants to see Nigeria economy diversify from oil base economy to appropriate and stronger economy where ICT development is critical”.

Mr Shittu assured the delegates that the Ministry will set up a committee to achieve a collaborative agreement on the issue.
