Nigeria, UK Strengthen Partnership On Entrepreneurial Education

The partnership between Brunel University Business School, United Kingdom, UK, and the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory FCT Secondary School Education Secretariate is yielding results with the visit by the Brunel management to Nigeria.

The visit is in continuation to deepen partnerships in entrepreneurship education.

The engagement between Federal Capital Territory FCT Secondary School Education Secretariate and the Brunel University Business School UK began about five months ago when the Secretariate visited the institution in the UK on a training programme and made presentations about the schools.

Impressed by the presentations, the FCT Secondary School Education Board and Brunel University management agreed on a formation of an innovative team and sent the team to see for itself in Nigeria.

Led by the Director Brunel Business School Mr. Ben Botes, the team visited Government Science Secondary School Tunga Maje, Phase Three Junior Secondary School, and Government Secondary School Gwagwalada all in the Gwagwalada area council of the Nigerian Federal Capital.

The Brunel team saw for themselves, practical presentations of entrepreneurship skills on Agriculture, water sanitation, power generation, chemical production and garments among others.

The Director of Brunel Businesses School, Mr. Ben Botes who was satisfied with the presentation said, the partnership would open more opportunities.

Bote said; “Each School we’ve visited so far has determination for entrepreneurship. The partnership enables knowledge transfer, access to the network, and access to additional resources to support the teachers.”

Also, the Director of FCT Secondary School Secondary Education Board, Malam Sani Ladan believes that the partnership will bring about the opening of entrepreneurship centers by the Brunel University Business School in Abuja, Nigeria.

Laden said; “What we expect at the end of the day is the strengthening of the collaboration and opening of the Nigeria – Brunel entrepreneurship centers both in the UK and Nigeria.”

Some students expressed happiness with the presentations.

It is expected that the Brunel University Business School and FCT Education Board sign an agreement to collaborate on the establishment of entrepreneurship education programs in the country.
